I am Thinking Island Nation…

I was reading an article tonight by congressional hopeful, Jake Towne. For those who are unaware, Jake just may be the most prolific writer running for Congress. His writings are always full of facts, figures, indisputable statistics, and sublime reasoning. He is right on the money. As I was reading, my mind began to wander. I thought of the experiment that our founders fought so bravely to create. I wondered what would they think and say if they could be with us today?  Would they be as appalled, yet still so full of hope and determination to steer it back on course, as so many of us are?

The movement grows and people awaken, many questions are raised. There is talk of revolution, and of rEVOLution. I prefer the latter, the peaceful, intellectual rEVOLution. The rEVOLution that we are now deeply entrenched, a battle for the hearts and minds of our fellow Americans and all the peoples of the world, from all walks of  life and all political and socioeconomic, and ethnic  persuasions. A rEVOLution hell bent on waking and educating our elected officials, and enlisting our statesman (yes, some still exist). The question has been raised many times, where can we go to avoid the maelstrom headed our way? Thailand? Ireland? Panama or Costa Rica? Many have already left the states (for a variety of reasons), many are making preparations….

As the head of a family, my primary responsibility in life as husband and father,  is to provide for, and protect my family. They come first before all others, or anything. Is there a safe haven for them to ride out the storm? Or will those who seek power and control over us flush out all corners of the globe? Can they? Dare they? For me, I intend to stay, whatever may come.  However, I refuse to die on a piece of dirt for  a piece of paper that no one else cares about….I know that I am not alone.

We watch the experiment known as the United States of America as it seems to slip away, we witness the destruction of our monetary system, the steady encroachment on our liberties, the dissolution of our individual, state, and national sovereignty, the  United (several) States as it once was intended seems so far away…And so, my mind starts to wander to a better place. To the alternatives…I find myself thinking of an island nation. A utopia of sorts, but not of the Orwellian, Stalinesque, or of the Maoist variety. An island nation where the rule of law prevails. And neither a well intended majority, or ill intended minority can take away the rights or property of anyone. The island would be well suited for Minarchists, and Anarcho-Capitalists….It would ultimately need a name, maybe Minarchocapistrano…Or is that off the coast of Greece?

Island nation. Is it possible? We can’t go it alone, my family and I. Well we could, but, we would prefer company. I am thinking there is room for many people and many things. Here is my preliminary list….I wonder, what or who would you bring? In my case, my family is a given, and yes ladies, we can bring the 2 dogs, 4 cats, the goldfish, and you know the parrot will be right at home on Minarcapi Whatever Island.

Please feel free to add who, and what you would bring (and why) in the comments below. I don’t believe mine need any explanation as to why, so here goes:

Things (or people) to Bring to Minarchapistrano Island

  • a few good doctors (Ron and Rand)
  • plenty of rum (tastes best on an island)
  • a desalination plant (need something to drink before 8:00 am)
  • a few Constitutionalists (Badnarik and Vieira)
  • the Constitution and the Bill of rights of course (less a few of the later amendments)…

Please add your thoughts, and give me no more than 5 items or ideas per entry. You can suggest a new name for the island if you would like. Have fun!!
